How to Create a Warm Welcome for Visitors
The weather is getting chilly!
Use this to your advantage if you’re selling a home. As temperatures dip, potential buyers will have a good feeling as soon as they enter a warm, welcoming home. And because it’s so cold outside, people are likely to spend more time in your home and really look it over before heading back outside to brave the elements.
These ideas can help you create a comfortable environment for visitors to your home, even on the coldest winter days.
Raise the Temperature:
Put aside your concerns about your energy bill during visits and open houses and set the thermostat at a comfortable level. You don’t want to make it too warm; the goal is for your guests to warm up as they take a tour.
Offer Warm Beverages:
A cup of coffee or tea will be most appreciated by potential buyers during their busy day of home hunting. You can also have hot chocolate and warm cider for kids, or adults with a sweet tooth. Including cookies sets a mood that fits the holiday season and it can also curb hungry guests’ appetites.
Light Your Fireplace:
Few things warm up a room like a fireplace. It creates a cozy scene and really helps set a mood. Before lighting a fire, make sure your fireplace is clean and in safe operating condition. If you haven’t used your fireplace in a while, hire a professional to make sure it’s clean and ready to use.
Stage Rooms for Comfort:
Place blankets and pillows on the coach in your family room. Not that guests are going to sit down and wrap themselves in your blankets, but it gives them an idea as to how they can enjoy special family time in an inviting and cozy setting as everyone gathers to watch TV together.
